A month on…

Today I have been 60 for one whole month, do I feel any different ? Not at all. However people have been asking if I achieved my 59 things at 59…sadly I only managed 58. Which one did I fail dramatically with – making a baked Alaska!

Yes I had plenty of time to bake it, a whole year infact, however I didn’t have enough people to eat it in the room at any one time. Poor excuse! However I will not be outdone and I will create it at some point!

So apart from the failure of the not baked Alaska I managed the others. It would be hard to decide which were my favourite moments as they were all special in their own way, whether it was simply taking the grandchildren to the park or throwing myself off a cliff in Pokhara, Nepal, (strapped to a quite rude man who told me he had good experience of paragliding with “larger” people, so not to worry!)

Yes I did put pressure on myself over some of them, having to watch all the Outlander series again, making sure I reread Daphne di Maurier’s Rebecca … however, it has made me realise that these small activities can give immense pleasure and I am making a conscious attempt to continue such activities without counting them!! I am now rewatching all the Cold Feet series, without watching the clock.

Totally new activities I did included: flying on a small plane, (to the Shetlands), trekking at altitude ( only just recovered!) watching live tennis, making Vietnamese pho,(particularly tasty) and climbing Blackcombe the nearest fell to my caravan.

Watched live tennis at the Albert Hall

This mission has made me think about how to fill my life to the full, make the most of my time, whatever you want to do, little or large, go out and do it!

Excuse me, I must go and continue reading the book for my newly joined book club next week.
